I am in love with this series!  Mike Mullin has created a world where desperation, fear, hunger, and hope collide.  To imagine a frozen world where the sun does not shine, the food supply is limited, the government is collapsed and people are fighting each other to survive one more cold, hellish day.  Ashen Winter continues the story of Darla and Alex, who 10 months ago survived the Yellowstone Super volcano eruption.  If you can call it surviving.  Alex is separated from his parents during the first book, Ashfall, and his search for them continues in Ashen Winter. 
This is a fabulous book and I cannot wait to have a copy on my shelves to share with young adult patrons!

I read the e-Advanced Reader's Copy in one day.  I could not put it down.  Now to wait for the final book in this trilogy.
