Poison Princess

Apparently I love post-apocalyptic books more than I realized.  When I get my hands on one I absolutely cannot put it down!  Poison Princess is no exception.  I took this book on a weekend road trip and was done in a few hours.  The problem: I need book 2.  Now!

The Last Free Cat

Maze Runner

So I flew through the Maze Runner trilogy.  I mistakenly read the prequel (The Kill Order) first and then was a bit out of sorts reading the first 3 books.  But I LOVED THIS SERIES!!!

Crewel

I loved this book!  I could not put it down to save my life!  A world that exists, rather spun, by Spinsters and teeters on the edge- one move and you could  be ripped from the fibers!

LOVE IT!  Cannot wait for Book 2!

Everything I Was

Thirteen year-old Irene is in for a shock when her penthouse life is sold piece by piece when her father's loses his job.  Irene and her family move to the country to stay with her grandfather while her father tries to find a job and her mother looks for another apartment in the City.  Irene blossoms during the summer- finding new friends, a first love and a new understanding of family.
A great summer read for tweens and teens!

I give this book 3.5 piles.

The Fault in Our Stars

Anguish.  Unconditional Love.  Anger.  Grief.  Sorrow.  Redemption.

Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters were dealt a bad hand.  But during their brief time together they found a love that would see them through disappointments, fear, cancer and death.  This is a wonderful story of how to young people can find each other amid the turmoil of diagnosis, "treatment" and loss.

Highly recommend this book- I give it 4 piles!

The Lifeguard

The Lifeguard by Deborah Blumethal was a quick read and a perfect one for a hot summer night.  Sirena is shipped of to Rhode Island when her parents decide it would be best for her to spend time away while they finalize their divorce.  During the summer Sirena learns there is more to life than feeling sorry for yourself and when you open your eyes- and your heart- you might be amazed at what you find.  This book packs a lot of issues into it and offers quick resolution to all of them.  If you are looking for a fun beach read take along the lifeguard.

Ashen Winter

I am in love with this series!  Mike Mullin has created a world where desperation, fear, hunger, and hope collide.  To imagine a frozen world where the sun does not shine, the food supply is limited, the government is collapsed and people are fighting each other to survive one more cold, hellish day.  Ashen Winter continues the story of Darla and Alex, who 10 months ago survived the Yellowstone Super volcano eruption.  If you can call it surviving.  Alex is separated from his parents during the first book, Ashfall, and his search for them continues in Ashen Winter
This is a fabulous book and I cannot wait to have a copy on my shelves to share with young adult patrons!

I read the e-Advanced Reader's Copy in one day.  I could not put it down.  Now to wait for the final book in this trilogy.
